The half hug was met with Obi-Wan returning the gesture. Putting his own arm around his old mentor. A few more flowers joining the ones that had already popped up. No mushrooms today!
Though the question drew an curious life of his brow.
"Certainly, Master."
He had indeed intended to go to bed, but it could wait.
"Perhaps it was the work of someone who's become cheekier with age," Qui-Gon replied good-naturedly as he turned around and continued forward.
Thirteen years of banter had been lost since that fateful encounter on Naboo, and although Obi-Wan's status as a Padawan back then didn't curb many of his jabs, the chance for some back-and-forth as equals couldn't be ignored. Not when their stay in Empatheias was the only real opportunity they'd have.
"You should come have some of the cupcakes as well. Even after giving a few away, there are far too many for me to eat on my own."
A light laugh was Qui-Gon's reward for the quip. A sound that was so rarely heard from that particular Jedi these days.
"Well... I suppose I could have one or two."
He had been eyeing them along with everything else in that store. But he had been strong! Though far be it from him to not accept at chance to have something sweet.
If anyone knew the voracity of Obi-Wan's sweet tooth, it was his master. Even if that master didn't have the best track record in indulging it. It was the same with Obi-Wan's pride, which Qui-Gon indulged in just a little bit more.
No better way to try and make up for lost time!
He took out the appropriate pots and, like clockwork, began brewing some of the tea, choosing something mild to go along with the overabundance of sugar.

"Ezra brought over some tea leaves as a gift. I thought you might like a cup before retiring for the night."
He shot a knowing look over his shoulder at his former Padawan, eyebrows arched once more.
"And I am curious as to how he found out today is my birthday."

Far be it from Obi-Wan to turn down a good cup of tea. Though Qui-Gon's following statement brought a little bit of a mischievous smile.
"Hm, I do wonder."

Some things never did change.
